Chalice/Candle Lighting

Opening Words:

We are conscious of the transiency of life as we perceive the transciency of nature. The summer is a particularly poignant time because even as we glory in its lush greenness and warmth and beauty, we still feel in our bones the memory of the chill of winter, and the wet cold of mud season, and the certainty of the seasons to come.

Check-in/Sharing

Topic/Activity:
Time is a great and enduring mystery of life. Many questions have been posed about the nature of time: Does it flow? in only one direction? Is it like an immense wheel returning regularly to the same seasons? Is it simply a series of snapshots? Can you share an experience you have had when time stopped, when you experienced an event faintly remembered, or when you had a vision of something not yet experienced (like an aurora)?

Closing Words:

Time, like an ever rolling stream
Bears all its sons away:
They fly, forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the opening day.
Isaac Watts

Time is but the stream I go a-fishing in.
