FUSN Life / Retreats

Retreats Build Community and Communion

Many community members feel that FUSN’s two annual retreats are highlights of the society’s year.  The retreats both involve a weekend in a lovely natural setting and are open to the entire FUSN community. Many friendships have begun lingering over a meal or during a nature walk or participating or leading an informal workshop in a area of personal interest. Discussions of topics such as UU values, contemporary challenges, great books, and life stages provide opportunities for personal growth.

Sandy Island

Each Memorial Day weekend, nearly half the community adjourns to New Hampshire’s Lake Winnipesauke for a weekend of nature, activities, and friend-building at Sandy Island

Ferry Beach

Each Columbus Day weekend, about 100 community members gather at Ferry Beach, a Unitarian Universalist camp and conference center perched on a lovely beach in southern Maine, to enjoy camaraderie and nearby attractions.

Some boards and groups, such as the board of trustees, hold occasional retreats to focus their energies and planning on larger issues.
