How to Edit a Web Page

Never Paste Directly Into A Web Page Editing Session!

If you have existing text that you wish to copy into a web page, please carefully do the following:

  1. Copy the text from whatever other application you are using (e.g. Word, Acrobat, Open Office, email, etc.) Usually this is accomplished using the Edit / Copy menu selection, or the Control-C (Command-C on mac) keyboard chord.
  2. Get into editing mode on the web page you want to edit - click the "Edit" tab.
  3. Position the insertion point, by clicking once, in the text area that you wish to add your copied text. Often this is the text area called "Body".
  4. Click the "Paste as Plain Text" tool button that looks like a clipboard with a "T" on it.
  5. Your text should now be inserted into the text box.  You can add formatting by using the tool buttons such as "B" for bold, or lists, and so forth.
  6. Don't forget to click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page when you are done editing.
